Chin Filler for Men
At Thames Aesthetics in Twyford, we use chin filler to give men a stronger, more balanced profile. Treatment is planned around male facial structure, bringing the chin forward and squaring it off so your face looks more defined without looking done, and it never leaves you with an overfilled or pointed chin.

Subtle definition. Stronger balance.
Chin filler for men is a non-surgical way to bring a recessed or undersized chin forward, so your profile looks stronger and your face looks more balanced from the side. Carefully placed hyaluronic acid filler adds projection and length at the chin point, sharpening the line from lower lip to jaw without changing what makes your face yours.
Why the chin matters more in a male face
A strong, forward chin is one of the defining features of a masculine profile. When the chin sits slightly back, the whole lower face can look softer, the nose can look larger, and the neck and jaw can seem to merge. Many men have grown a beard partly to cover this, and it helps from the front, but a recessed chin still shows in side-on photographs, on video calls and whenever the beard is trimmed back.
How the male approach differs
Chin filler for a woman usually aims for a softer, tapered, more heart-shaped point. For a man we do the opposite: we build projection forward and a slightly wider, squarer chin that lines up with the corners of the mouth. Male skin is thicker and the underlying bone is larger, so men generally need more product and a deeper, structural placement close to the bone. The aim is definition that reads as bone structure, never a pointed or overfilled chin.
Is it right for you?
Chin filler suits men whose chin sits behind the line of the lower lip in profile, whose jawline lacks a clear end point, or who feel their face looks unbalanced from the side. It is not the answer for everyone. A double chin caused by fat under the jaw, or a significant jaw misalignment that affects your bite, needs a different solution, and we will tell you so at consultation.

A Holistic Approach
The chin rarely works in isolation. For some men the best result comes from combining chin filler with jawline filler to define the angle of the jaw, or with Radiesse for longer-term structural support. At consultation we look at your whole lower face in profile and in front view, and we will recommend only what makes a real difference to your balance.
Chin Filler for Men Procedure
Your treatment is carried out in four stages:
Consultation and assessment: We review your medical history and assess your face from the front and in profile, measuring your chin against your lips, nose and jaw. This tells us how much projection you need and how much product it is likely to take.
Planning and mapping: We mark the placement points to build forward projection and a squarer, masculine chin, and agree the plan with you before anything is injected. We also take standardised photographs so you can compare the result.
Treatment: The filler is placed deep, close to the bone, using a fine needle or cannula. The filler contains local anaesthetic, so most men describe the treatment as pressure rather than pain. It takes around 30 minutes.
Review at two weeks: Once any swelling has settled we see you again to assess the result in profile and, if needed, make a small refinement so your chin is balanced and symmetrical.
Results

You will see the change in your profile straight away, although some swelling means the final shape is clearest at around two weeks. Chin filler typically lasts 12 to 18 months, and often longer in the chin because it is a low-movement area.
What to expect:
Mild swelling and tenderness around the chin for two to three days
Possible small bruises at the injection points, which a beard usually hides
A firm feeling as the filler settles, softening over the first week
Avoiding the gym, alcohol and pressure on the chin for 24 hours
Results vary between individuals, and men often need more than one syringe to achieve meaningful projection. Some men build their result over two sessions rather than one. Chin filler is a medical procedure and is only carried out after a face-to-face consultation, where we explain the risks and confirm that it is the right treatment for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Would jawline filler be better for me?
It depends on where your face lacks definition. If your profile looks weak because the chin sits back, chin filler is usually the first and most effective step. If the angle of the jaw is soft or undefined, jawline filler may help too. Many men get the best result from treating the chin first and then deciding whether the jaw needs more.
What if I do not like the result?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is one of the reasons we use it. In practice this is rarely needed, because we build the result carefully, agree the plan with you first and review you at two weeks to make any refinement.
Can I go back to work or the gym straight away?
You can return to work immediately, and a beard usually hides any small marks or bruising. Avoid the gym, alcohol, saunas and pressure on the chin, including face-down massage, for 24 hours so the filler can settle in place.
Is it painful?
Most men find it more comfortable than they expected. The filler contains a local anaesthetic, and we can apply numbing cream beforehand. You will feel pressure as the product is placed, and the area may feel tender for a couple of days afterwards.
How long does chin filler last?
Typically 12 to 18 months, and it often lasts longer than filler in other areas because the chin moves relatively little. Men with a high metabolism or a heavy training schedule may find it lasts towards the shorter end of that range. A smaller top-up is usually enough to maintain the result.
I have a beard. Is there any point?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons men come to us. A beard adds bulk from the front, but it cannot move the chin forward, so a recessed chin still shows in profile. Filler gives the beard a stronger structure to sit on, and many men find their beard shape looks better and needs less careful trimming afterwards.
Will it look obvious?
It should not. The aim is for people to notice that you look sharper or more defined without being able to say why. We build projection forward and keep the chin square, which reads as natural bone structure. An overfilled or pointed chin comes from using a female template or too much product, and we plan specifically to avoid both.
How much filler will I need?
Most men need between one and three millilitres to achieve meaningful projection. Male chins are larger and the skin is thicker, so a single syringe is often a starting point rather than the full result. We assess your profile at consultation and give you a clear estimate before treatment, and some men prefer to build their result gradually over two sessions.
