Anti Wrinkle Treatments for Men

At Thames Aesthetics in Twyford, we treat men with an approach built around male anatomy. Male facial muscles are stronger and male skin is thicker, so anti-wrinkle treatment for men is dosed and placed differently — softening frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet while keeping your brow flat and your expression your own.

Look rested, not treated

Anti-wrinkle injections for men work on the same principle as they do for women — relaxing the muscles that fold the skin — but the dosing and the plan are different. Male facial muscles are larger and stronger, particularly across the forehead and between the brows, so men typically need more product to achieve the same softening, and more careful placement to avoid an arched, over-treated brow.

Why male treatment plans differ

Men lose facial structure through the lower face and jaw rather than through cheek volume, and male skin is thicker, with more collagen and a denser blood supply. Treatment is therefore dosed higher, reviewed differently, and planned around keeping the brow flat and the expression intact. The aim is a face that still moves — you should look rested, not smooth.

Areas we commonly treat for men

Most men start with one area rather than a full face. The three most common are the frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow's feet at the outer eye. We also treat a heavy or hooded brow, neck bands, a dimpled chin, and jaw clenching where it is wearing the teeth or causing morning headaches.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Softens frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet without freezing your expression

  • Dosed for stronger male muscle mass, so results hold rather than fade early

  • Placed to keep the brow flat and masculine, never arched

  • No downtime — most men return to work the same afternoon

  • Preventative when started early, slowing lines before they set into the skin

  • Confidential consultation and treatment in a private room at our Twyford clinic

A Holistic Approach

Anti-wrinkle injections address movement lines, but they do not treat skin quality or lost structure. Many of our male clients combine treatment with Profhilo for hydration, dermal fillers for jawline definition, or Hydra Dermabrasion for texture and congestion. At consultation we will tell you honestly which of these you need and which you do not.

Anti Wrinkle Treatment for Men Procedure

Your treatment is carried out in four stages:

  1. Consultation and assessment: We discuss what is bothering you, review your medical history, and assess your face at rest and in movement. Male muscle bulk varies considerably, so this stage determines your dose.

  2. Planning and mapping: We mark the injection points against your own muscle pattern, planning around a flat brow line and preserving the movement that keeps your expression natural.

  3. Treatment: A series of small injections using a fine needle. The treatment takes around fifteen minutes and most men describe it as a brief sting rather than pain. No anaesthetic is required.

  4. Review at two weeks: We see you again once the product has fully settled, assess the result, and top up any area that has responded less than expected. This review is included.

Results

Movement begins to soften from day three to five, with the full result visible at around two weeks. Results typically last three to four months, and often longer once you have had several courses, as the treated muscles gradually reduce in bulk.

What to expect:

  • Small raised marks at the injection points, settling within an hour

  • Occasional mild bruising, most common around the crow's feet

  • A feeling of heaviness across the forehead in the first week as the muscle relaxes

  • Full effect at two weeks, reviewed at your follow-up appointment

Results vary between individuals. Men frequently require a higher dose than women to achieve the same degree of softening, and a first treatment is often a starting point rather than a final result — this is why the two-week review matters. Anti-wrinkle treatment is a prescription medicine and is only provided following a face-to-face consultation with our prescribing practitioner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you treat excessive sweating at the same appointment?

Often, yes. Underarm sweating is treated with the same botulinum product and can frequently be combined into one visit, which suits men who would rather attend the clinic once. It is assessed and priced as a separate treatment. Speak to us at consultation and we will plan the appointment length accordingly.

What happens if I stop having treatment?

Nothing dramatic. The product wears off gradually and your muscle movement returns to exactly where it was — there is no rebound effect and your lines do not come back worse. You simply return to your natural baseline over the course of a few months. Many men treat before a particular period of their life and stop afterwards without any issue.

I am in my early thirties. Is it too early to start?

Not necessarily. Treating a line while it only appears on movement is more effective than treating one that has already etched into the skin at rest. Starting earlier generally means smaller doses, less frequently. That said, if your lines are not yet establishing, we will tell you to wait rather than begin a course you do not need.

Can it help with jaw clenching and morning headaches?

Yes. Treating the masseter muscles at the angle of the jaw reduces the force of clenching, which can relieve morning jaw ache, tension headaches and the tooth wear that comes with long-term grinding. It is a functional treatment as much as an aesthetic one, and it can also soften a very square, overdeveloped jaw. We assess this separately at consultation.

I train regularly — does that affect how long it lasts?

It can. Men with a high metabolic rate and a heavy training schedule often metabolise the product faster and find results fade towards the earlier end of the three to four month range. We take your training routine into account when planning your dose and review interval. Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours after treatment.

Will anyone at work be able to tell?

That is the brief. Movement softens gradually between day three and day five rather than switching off, so there is no obvious before-and-after moment for colleagues to notice. Most men find the feedback they get is that they look well rested. The injection points themselves settle within an hour of treatment.

Will it give me an arched brow?

Not if it is planned properly. An arched, surprised-looking brow is the classic sign of a man treated to a female template. We map the forehead to keep your brow line flat and horizontal, treating the frontalis conservatively at the outer edges so the tail of the brow is not lifted. Masculine brow position is a deliberate part of the plan, not an afterthought.

Will I need more product than a woman would?

Usually, yes. Male facial muscles — particularly the frontalis across the forehead and the corrugators between the brows — are larger and stronger, so men commonly need a higher dose to achieve the same softening. This is why a men's treatment is priced by the area treated and the units required, and why we assess your muscle bulk in movement before quoting.
